Brad has been involved in Fire and Emergency Medical Services for over 30 years. He began his career as volunteer firefighter in 1985 in Tiverton, RI. He attended Paramedic school in 1989. After graduation, he worked for a private ambulance service then moved to a hospital based non-transport paramedic service.
In 1997, he was hired by the Stoughton Fire Department in Massachusetts as a Firefighter/Paramedic. In 2001 he was promoted to Lieutenant/Paramedic. In 2015, Brad was promoted to Captain/Paramedic where he has severed as the Safety and Training officer and is currently assigned as a Shift Commander.
Brad has a vast array of teaching experiences. He holds an EMS Instructor Coordinator designation from the Massachusetts Department of Health and Fire Instructor certification. He has taught for the Massachusetts Fire Academy in several of their program areas. He has presented lectures nationally at the Firehouse World Conference. Firehouse Expo Conference, the EMS World Conference and at the EMS Today Conference covering different fire and EMS topics.
In 2010 Brad created an EMS education institution, National Medical Education and Training Center in West Bridgewater, Ma where he severs as the President/CEO of the school. He was instrumental in managing the application process to full National Accreditation of their paramedic program. Brad developed a hybrid paramedic program that educates and trains student from around the world. In 2015 he published a research article in the Journal of Emergency Medical Services comparing traditional classroom learning to hybrid or online paramedic education
Brad has worked as a Faculty Educator and content writer for Elsevier Publishing where he spent several years working with the publishing team helping EMS educators with instructional design and their E-learning tools. Brad was invited by the National Association of EMT’s to join the authorship team as one of the principle authors and speakers for the new “All Hazard Disaster Response” course published by Jones and Bartlett and released in 2017.
In 2014 Brad was appointed to the faculty at The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Fellowship in Disaster Medicine, an affiliated fellowship of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and currently serves as the Associate Director EMS Education.
In 2015 he was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at Anna Maria College where he teaches graduate students in Fire, EMS and Health Care Emergency Management.
Brad holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science and a Master Degree in Public Administration.
